Amanda Reneau

Amanda Reneau, Goodwill 2014 Team Member of the Year, is the type of person other people look forward to seeing at work. She doesn’t work for a paycheck, but because she cares about the people that she works with and she wants to make a difference.

“Amanda has a passion for what Goodwill does,” said Elizabeth Butler, Senior Vice President of Mission Services and Human Resources, and Amanda’s supervisor. “She walks the walk and talks the talk of our mission.”

Amanda began work at Goodwill in 2002 as a retention specialist, and then worked in the accounting department before transferring to the human resources department in 2008. Since starting at Goodwill she has continued to impress everyone around her with a constant willingness to help sort out problems, no matter when, who, or what the problem may be.

As the human resources administrator, Amanda is one of the first points of contact for new employees of Goodwill. She walks employees through orientation, helping them discover what their job is going to be like, and explains the benefits of their new position and what it means to work at Goodwill. When an employee is ready for a promotion or transfer to another department, Amanda helps facilitate that process.

“For the last five years I have had the privilege of meeting and working with all of the individuals that become employed by Goodwill North Central Texas,” Reneau said. “What really makes my day is when employees or applicants come in and they are just so excited for their new job. They are reaching their goals, which is amazing.”

While Amanda credits her coworkers for her success at Goodwill, she was the clear choice for Goodwill’s 2014 Team Member of the Year award. She is always willing to go the extra mile for a fellow Goodwill employee, regularly coming in on the weekends to ensure new hires will receive a paycheck that first week on the job.

“There are so many people here at Goodwill who could have been Team Member of the Year,” Reneau said. “It is a privilege to work with who I work with and help people in the small way that I can. It is an honor to work here.”
