Goodwill North Central Texas to Celebrate Grand Reopening of Denton Store

Event to Include Ribbon Cutting & Tours of New Free Job Resource Center

 

WHO:
Denton Mayor Chris Watts, Denton City Council Members Gerard Hudspeth and Kelly Briggs; Goodwill North Central Texas President & CEO David Cox, VP of Workforce Development Romney Guy and VP of Donated Goods & Retail Sales Rosemary Cruz; open to the general public.

WHAT:
Goodwill North Central Texas will host a grand re-opening of their remodeled Denton retail location and offer tours and an open house of the location’s expanded Job Resource Center. The Denton retail store originally opened in November 1966 at 218 W. Hickory and moved to its current location in 1986 after the original location burned down. The location has undergone extensive renovations to include a new façade with modern signage, donation drop-off drive through area, freshly paved and painted parking lot and a new ADA-compliant Job Resource Center with state-of-the-art technology and innovative classroom space.

The grand re-opening event will feature gift card give-a-ways every hour, a live DJ and prize packs with free shopping bag, hotdogs and more for the first 50 customers in line.

The new Job Resource Center (JRC), the largest JRC outside of Goodwill North Central Texas’s headquarters, will be open weekly Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and will offer free services to job seekers, including:

  • Assistance from job search experts to provide job placement services
  • One-on-one career counseling
  • Employer networking opportunities
  • Job readiness training, including resume writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques
  • Vocational assessments to focus job searches on the most suitable and in-demand occupations
  • Needs assessments and appropriate referrals for mental health, housing and more
  • Goodwill Works, a job training and placement program for the homeless and those at imminent risk of homelessness
  • GoodED, an Adult High School Diploma Online Program
  • org and Goodwill’s Digital Career AcceleratorSM, a digital skills training program (offered in English and Spanish)

As with all purchases at Goodwill North Central Texas retail locations, revenue from the sale of donated goods at Goodwill – Denton will help fund Goodwill’s mission of providing jobs and job training for individuals with disabilities or disadvantages such as lack of education or work experience, at-risk youth, veterans and the homeless.
